Christmas Is Over...boo hoo

We just got back from visiting my parents in Port Angeles, where we spent our Christmas. We had a lot of fun. Christmas Eve we all dressed up in our cheesiest Christmas sweaters and had Chinese Food. Christmas day, we had a Christmas breakfast and a Prime Rib Dinner. The day after, my sister made these awesome Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches...needless to say that my favorite part was all the food. I am now home and 5 pounds heavier. Here are a few pictures from our trip. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas as well.

Yay Christmas Time!

So I have officially gotten in the Christmas spirit this last weekend. It always happens when I sit down and start wrapping Christmas presents next to the fireplace with the glow of my Christmas tree making me happy. I generally do this while drinking tea (only Constant Comment) and watching a Christmas movie. I have several favorite movies relating to Christmas and all for different reasons or part. Here are 5 of my favorites and moments from them that make me smile.

This is one of my absolute must watch movies. I love this movie because I sing along with all of the songs. Plus it is one of my dad's absolute favorites. You are an old potata! Scrooge with Albert Finney.

I watch White Christmas with my daughter and we sing "Sisters" and "Snow" together. I love Danny Kaye in this movie. Plus his pants, socks and shoes all match perfectly! What you do...leave it in your snood?

Home Alone and Home Alone 2 are awesome! Me, my sister, and my dad watch this together. Corrie and I sit and wait for Dad's favorite parts because he laughs every time like it was the first time he has ever seen it. I think we've been scammed by a kindie-gardner!

This is a really old one, but one I adore. It has great songs. With Razzleberry Dressing! Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol

Will is terribly funny in this movie. It was hard to find just one scene but this one is classic! I like your dress...it's very purply!

I have many more...I will add them as I watch them. Merry Almost Christmas....

It's Pretty Much Official

So they have officially cast Bella Swan with Kristen Stewart. It looks like they are also going to be casting Edward by this Friday and rumor has it that it will be Robert Pattinson (know as playing Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies). Here is a little video to commemorate the filming of my favorite books...

Turkey Day!

Well, I had a really great Thanksgiving...It was nice because I was able to spend it with both sides of my family this year. Lola and Cash had both sets of grandparents together for the occassion. This is a video of the day...

The day after, my mother, Angela and I did our ritual of day after shopping which was a blast and made me exhausted...I still think I'm recovering and don't quite have the stamina back for Christmas Carnage.

Pumpkin Patch

So we went to the pumpkin patch last week. It was me, Lola, Corrie, Jodi and Jeff. Lola had so much fun. We went to this place called Leipold Farms out in Boring. We went on a Hay Ride, did a Corn Maze, a Haze Maze, a Pumpkin-Pult, picked out pumpkins, and Lola played in a giant box of corn. Needless to say, Lola had a wonderful time and I think that all of us adult enjoyed having Lola there as an excuse to go and enjoy being kids for a day at a Pumpkin Patch!

Twilight Series

Okay so this weekend I finally read the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer and let me tell you that they were wonderful. If you haven't heard of them or if you haven't read them...do! Jenny (of course) told me all about them and so I read them all in three wonderfully, gut wrenchingly, painful days of blissfulness. Sometimes I loved them so much I was flipping throught he pages so fast that I couldn't wait for the next page, other times I did not want to turn the page at all not wanting to know what was coming. Sometimes I reread the same part over again to make sure that what I read was really what I read. Sometimes I wanted to yell and the people in the book (and I did). Sometimes I cried so hard that it physically hurt. These books are supposed to be made into a movie at some point which is somewhat exciting to me and also somewhat terrifying as well because it is all so wonderful and made up in my head that it will be aweful if it doesn't live up to my expectations on the big screen. The following is someones choices for the characters for the movie (along with some of the authors recommendations).

Weekend Away

So my husband wisked me away this weekend to Eagle Crest over near Redmond. He even went one step further and arranged for his parents to watch our children so we could go just the two of us and let me just say...aaaaahhhhh! It was peaceful, quiet, relaxing and way too short. I spent my time reading, sleeping and laying in a huge bathtub surrounded by chocolate smelling candles. Can anybody say AWESOME! We ate Abby's pizza, did some shopping in Bend, and watched football. Lets just say, it was nice to be able to have adult conversation that wasn't interrupted by crying, feeding or diapers.

I met my husband when I was 14 and I have loved him ever since. Thanks for loving me back Josh!

Jenny's Birthday Evening!

We went out to dinner, shopped at Jenny's favorite store, and watched Jenny's (and my) new favorite movie. I must say the second time seeing Hairspray was even better than the first....We had so much fun...I must say having an entire theatre to ourselves to sing at the top of our lungs and dance to our heart content in the middle of the aisles was probably the highlight of my meager existence these last 4 months, so I will love Jenny's Birthday forever because of that. All in all, I hope Jenny's 30th Birthday was awesome because I love her!

Here are pictures from our night....

Happy 30th Birthday Jenny Darling!

Today is Jenny's 30th Birthday and in her honor I am putting up some of my favorite pictures of her that make me smile.

Jenny at my old house on 60th

Jenny kissing Lex in Vegas

Jenny inside our hotel in Paris

Jenny on the plane on our first trip with the girls

Jenny and I on my 21st Birthday

In case you didn't know already...Jenny and I met through my sister, Corrie, but what opened our hearts to one another was nothing other than Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I know, I know...sounds crazy, but if you know Jenny, she does not give her heart and faith and love to just anyone...this is just how I got my proverbial "foot in the door" as they say.

Our relationship has been slowly built from that point and 8 years later...here we are sharing her 30th birthday. I can tell her anything and she tells me what she wants to tell me until I weasel everything she doesn't want to tell me out of her. I can do things with her that I can't do with anybody else. She has opened me up to trying new things that I would never have tried before. I don't know what I have really taught her but I am sure there must be something otherwise I am sure she probably would have ditched me long before now. I love her to pieces and know she loves me back just as much!

This is Jenny's Favorite Buffy Moment...

Long Lost Friend...

So late this evening I was downloading some old school music from the eighties and early nineties and remembering the good old days of my youth. Thinking about my youth, my mind wandered to all the things that meant so much to me like my family home on Old Melrose Road in Roseburg Oregon, going to the Douglas County Fair and showing my pig in 4-H, playing golf at the Country Club with my Nana and then all of the sudden I missed my best friend....Jerrod Potter. I remember the first time I saw him he looked like Malibu Ken Doll! He had just moved to Oregon from California and was wearing Stussy and Mossimo everything and had more gel in his hair than should be allowed. I wanted him more than anything a 14 year old girl could ever want! I remember sitting in my desk and just watching the back of his head when all of the sudden he turned around and smiled at me. I couldn't believe he just started talking to me like I was somebody worth talking to. Let me just say, as far as Junior High School girls went...I was not doing so well for myself and I had no idea why this gorgeous boy was talking to me when I was neither pretty nor popular. After I got over the fact that he didn't seemed bothered by the fact that I was a walking embarrasment and was not going to further his status in the new school and he still wanted to hang out and talk to me....we somehow became best friends...

So what did I do...I started to panic...I haven't heard from him since he lived in Salem in an apartment by the college...oh but he said if I even need him I could call his parent....okay Katie think....his parent number....he always had a trick to help you remember something about 2/3 of evil...think Katie think...oh what are you thinking...this is 2007...do what everybody in the world does...GOOGLE THEM!!! So that is exactly what I did...and guess what I found???? He has a blog right here on blogger! Yay me! He even lives in Portland! I was so tickled to see my Jerrod alive and kicken that I stayed up all night reading his entire blog in one sitting. Come to find out that I am pretty sure that he lives pretty close to my sister somewhere and attends the same church as one of my long time friends. What the poo? Anywho...here are some pics of me and him growing up...

He used to love coming to my house because my mother would feed him like there was no tomorrow....
One time he came into the living room with chocolate from ear to ear and we all died laughing!

My New Favorite Movie

So Jenny took me to go and see the new Hairspray movie and let me just say....

I LOVED IT!!!!!!

Like my previous disclaimer...I already love musicals...but this one was awesome!

I have never watched any of the previous versions of this movie or heard anything about it or the plays so I was totally in the dark about it other than the previews I saw on television. Plus, now that I am embracing me inner high schooler, it allowed me to once again drool over Zac Efron, who is suddenly in everything! Plus yay MUSICAL! I am so glad musicals are coming back in fashion!

Here is my favorite part from the movie....

Hee Hee Hee

You just gotta giggle and giggle

I watched this one until I about peed my pants!

Flight of the Concords are awesome!

High School Musical Mania!!!

Okay so about a year ago, Jenny and I are getting ready to hang out and she tells me that she is bringing over the movie "High School Musical" for us to watch for our afternoon entertainment. I immediately ask her why and she proceeds to tell me that it is awesome and that anybody and everybody who loves musicals as much as we do must watch this lovely bit of teeny bopperishness. She heard from every 13 year old girl and boy alike that if you want to be cool you must know all there is to know about HSM (I am embracing my inner high school Katie Lou self right now). Needless to say, I watched it and liked the cute little after school special style and cute little sing along songs and fun little dance numbers that went along with it. ( For all of you who don't know me...I was already somewhat predestined to like it because I grew up on Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, Newsies, Annie, etc, etc, etc )

Skip forward until this weekend...

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 PREMIER WEEKEND!!!!!!!!

So I hadn't rewatched HSM since Jenny and I watched it that one lazy afternoon a year ago (not that I hadn't thought about it since or resisted a few urges to purchase a copy while wearing a pair of dark sunglasses and a trenchcoat or sending in a young 10 year old girl to do the deed for me). So on Saturday Jenny came over and we rewatched HSM and I forgot how much a liked how cutsie pie and catchy it was....so sugary sweet you could almost hurt someone for it. Anywho....On Sunday we watched the Premier of High School Musical 2 and boy were we in for a suprise....

IT WAS AWESOME! Songs were good...everybody's acting improved....dancing was fun! And suddenly I became one of those girls saying things like..."oh well you know Zac Efron really isn't in High School...he just plays a younger person for this movie so it is totally okay for me to be thinking about him shirtless..." you know...like a perverted old lady!

If you have never watched these shows and you enjoy musicals...watch them. If you don't like musicals...don't watch them because these will not make you start liking musicals all of the sudden.

Another heartbreaking love ballad for everyone....

All Good Things Must Come To An End....

So I Finished Harry Potter....

I am a good friend to my Jennika so I will wait to discuss until she has officially given me the nod but....

It was an AWESOME BOOK...

I liked it so much....I cried, was shocked, was dumbstruck, and in awe of all the things that happened.

I am not one for giving my ratings like Jenny is but if I were I would give it three snaps in Z formation!

And Then He Kissed Me!

So this weekend is my cousin Jodi's wedding and I am so excited for her. We grew up together and thought we would have a double wedding since the age of 5 I think. We were going to get married at my Nana's old house in her back yard and come down in matching wedding gowns to greet our dangerously handsome husbands. Aahhh. I am pretty sure we had everything planned from colors to napkins to wedding cakes but I can't quite remember it all. Congratulations Sue Sue!

Summer!

My new favorite thing to do with my best friend Jenny is to sit outside in my back yard and drink lots and lots of iced tea while reading books in the sunshine. We generally have been doing this in our underwear but that is a sidenote that I will not elaborate on....mmmm sunshine!!!!

Personality Test Part 2

This is the other explaination that they gave me.... (why two different ones...I know not?)

ISTJs are often called inspectors. They have a keen sense of right and wrong, especially in their area of interest and/or responsibility. They are noted for devotion to duty. Punctuality is a watchword of the ISTJ. The secretary, clerk, or business(wo)man by whom others set their clocks is likely to be an ISTJ.

As do other Introverted Thinkers, ISTJs often give the initial impression of being aloof and perhaps somewhat cold. Effusive expression of emotional warmth is not something that ISTJs do without considerable energy loss.

ISTJs are most at home with "just the facts, Ma'am." They seem to perform at highest efficiency when employing a step-by-step approach. Once a new procedure has proven itself (i.e., has been shown "to work,") the ISTJ can be depended upon to carry it through, even at the expense of their own health.

ISTJs are easily frustrated by the inconsistencies of others, especially when the second parties don't keep their commitments. But they usually keep their feelings to themselves unless they are asked. And when asked, they don't mince words. Truth wins out over tact. The grim determination of the ISTJ vindicates itself in officiation of sports events, judiciary functions, or an other situation which requires making tough calls and sticking to them.

His SJ orientation draws the ISTJ into the service of established institutions. Home, social clubs, government, schools, the military, churches -- these are the bastions of the SJ. "We've always done it this way" is often reason enough for many ISTJs. Threats to time-honored traditions or established organizations (e.g., a "run" on the bank) are the undoing of SJs, and are to be fought at all costs.

Personality Test

I took the personality test because Jenny told me too and this is what there is to say about me...

Inspector Guardians look carefully and thoroughly at the people and institutions around them. Making up perhaps as much as ten percent of the general population, Inspectors are characterized by decisiveness in practical affairs, are the guardians of institutions, and if only one adjective could be selected, "superdependable" would best describe them. Whether at home or at work, Inspectors are nothing if not dependable, particularly when it comes to examining the people and products they are responsible for-quietly seeing to it that uniform quality is maintained, and that those around them uphold certain standards of attitude and conduct.

These quiet, no-nonsense Guardians have a distaste for and distrust of fanciness in speech, dress, and living space. Their words tend to be simple and down-to-earth, not showy or high-flown; their clothes are often homespun and conservative rather than of the latest fashion; and their home and work environments are usually neat, orderly, and traditional, rather than up-to-date or luxurious. In their choice of personal property (cars, furnishings, jewelry, and so on) price and durability are just as important as comfort or appearance. Classics, antiques, and heirlooms are especially valued, having achieved a certain time-honored status-Inspectors prefer the old-fashioned to the newfangled every time. Even on vacation, Inspectors tend not to be attracted by exotic foods, beverages, or locales.

Their thoroughness and orderliness, combined with their interest in legality and standardization, leads Inspectors to a number of occupations that call for the careful administration of goods and services. Inspectors feel right at home with difficult, detailed forms and columns of figures, and thus they make excellent bank examiners, auditors, accountants, and tax attorneys. Managing investments in securities is likely to interest this type, particularly investments in municipal bonds and blue-chip securities. Inspectors are not likely to take chances either with their own or others' money, and the thought of a bankrupt nation, state, institution, or family gives them more than a little uneasiness. The idea of dishonoring a contract also bothers an Inspector -their word is their bond-and they naturally communicate a message of trustworthiness and stability, which can make them successful in business. With their eye for detail, Inspectors make good business men and women, librarians, dentists, optometrists, legal secretaries, and law researchers. High school and college teachers of business administration, home economics, physical education, civics, and history tend to be Inspectors, as do quartermaster officers in the military.

Jazzercise

So I have decided that since I am to be in a wedding by mid-July, I must begin working out again. Just having baby number 2 has done wonders for my figure as you can imagine. Sickened by myself in the mirror, I woke up at 5:15 this morning and drove the Jazzercise where I signed up for 9 weeks (how long until the wedding). My friend Natalie is doing the same so we can hold each other accountable. Now that I have written it down, you few readers that I have can hold me accountable as well. Make sure I lose those inches and jiggles before July...okay!

I need to look closer to this by the time I am done....

The Zoo

So I took my daughter and my 4 month old son to the zoo this last week while my parents were in town. I thought it was going to be this big to-do and that I would be stressed out by the time we reached the penguins. To my wonderful suprise...the zoo was delightful. Now I know why so many people take their children there just for kicks during the week. I am now going to become one of those crazy mothers obsessed with teaching my children the joys of zoology through monthly trips to the zoo....lucky them!

Happy Easter!

Well, tomorrow is Easter. My daughter is infatuated with egg hunting. Today she and I colored Easter eggs. I learned from past Easters that she will color as many eggs as she can until she is covered from head to toe in dye. This year...being much smarter and more learned than years past, I only boiled one dozen eggs. As many people know, you are lucky if half the eggs you boil don't break. We only had two break...

Anywho, having only ten eggs to color was a good amount. The entire process only took 20 minutes and that included her putting princess stickers all over each egg. The downfall is now she asks me every 5 minutes if the eggs are ready for her to find them....

Happy Easter Everyone!

Katie Jenny Day

Today me and my Jenny Rebecca hung out...we did absolutely nothing and it was awesome!

Um oh...it's me!

The only reason I am even doing this blog is because my friend Jenny has one and some day I hope to be as cool and witty as she. Having said that, my name is Katie Lou and I figure that I have as much useless and boring things to say as anyone else who blogs. If you would really like to know what goes on in my life and what I think about, then part of me feels sorry for you and the other part of me says....THEY LIKE ME...THEY REALLY LIKE ME!!!!!!!!
